Our goal is to increase children’s learning and improve their school results. In this way, we give them stronger armor for adulthood. Our employees have been present for almost 10 years, and since we started, the children’s school results have gradually improved significantly.

We work with about 25 children in the orphanage who have special needs and need extra support and adult attendance. The children do not have the opportunity to follow the ordinary schooling. Some go to special school and some study a simpler program. Some of the children go to special schools and require special assistance, and may always need special assistance. Other children do not have assisting difficulties and have with our help been able to develop psychologically, mentally and socially and can begin and continue the ordinary schooling.

Each child in the group has one hour with our staff per day. We have seen that the children express great joy and enthusiasm about being focused by an adult individual who meets them as people, takes the time to see, listen, give advice and discuss. The conversations allow the employees to help the children with the school results based on their own needs, but also constitute a place to express their thoughts and reflections on life.

We see that our method not only gave the children significantly better school results, but also a stronger integrity and individual feeling is difficult to get when the children grow up in groups.

We believe that a strong self-esteem and education increases the children’s opportunities to cope in life that begins when they leave the orphanage. Happily, we have been able to see that the oldest children we have followed for the past 10 years have been able to get a job when they leave the orphanage.

Throughout our presence at the orphanage, we have collaborated with the orphanage’s staff. We have premises in the orphanage’s building that are dedicated to our activities, the so-called The “living room” where all our activities take place. We want to act as a support to the orphanage’s staff and help where the resources are not enough. Gradually, a collaboration with the school has also been developed. From the autumn of 2019, we will participate in the school’s team around individual children.
